Dr. G.D. Jindal heads the Biomedical Instrumentation Section at Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Dept. of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India. He developed 1st indigenous M-mode Echocardiograph in 1978. His earlier work included development of Apex Cardiograph, Impedance Plethysmograph, EMG Analyzer, Capsule Sorting System, High Frequency Electro-cardiograph, Add-on Card for Scintigraphic Images and Feasibility Model of Electrical Impedance Tomograph. His recent work is on Impedance Cardiovasograph and Non-invasive Cardiac Output Monitor. These techniques have been transferred to M/s Larsen & Toubro Ltd. for commercial production. His most recent work is the development of Non-invasive Blood Pressure Monitor Module and Oxygen Saturation Percentage Monitor Module, which are also under commercial production at M/s Larsen & Toubro Ltd. His recent interest is in the study of autonomic nervous system by study of physiological variability along with disease characterization with the help of pulse pattern and propagation analyzer. He is also the Vice President of Biomedical Engineering Society of India and Member of Indian Nuclear Society.



Prof. Benjamin M W Tsui

Dr. Tsui did his postdoctoral training at and was on the faculty of the University of Chicago before joining the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Radiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1982. His research interest is in medical imaging, particularly in the area of Single-Photon Computed Emission Tomography (SPECT), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Specific research projects include imaging theory, Monte Carlo simulation, collimator design, image evaluation, two-dimensional and three-dimensional image reconstruction algorithm development, and quantitative SPECT imaging techniques. He is a PI of 5 NIH and DOD research grants and subcontracts.




Dr Sneh Anand

Prof. Sneh Anand graduated in Electrical Engineering from Punjabi University, Patiala in 1970 and did her Masters (Controls and Instrumentation) and Doctoral Research (Biomedical Engineering) at the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi 1972 and 1976 respectively.

She has over ten inventions and five patents to her credit and has transferred several know-hows to Indian industry. For these scientific endeavors National Research and Development Corporation awarded Topmost invention award for the year 1989, Ministry of Welfare presented Technology Invention award for the years 1988, 1989, 1992 and 1993 in rehabilitation engineering and the Indian Council of Medical Research conferred Kshanika Oration and Citation award for the year 1993 in Health care technology, IETE Toshniwal and Gauri memorial awards in 1998 & in 2002 and IE Life time achievement award in Medical Electronics in 2004. With this and others She stands unique in the country as an engineer who has gone beyond academics and practically helped people through biomedical technology.

Prof. Arun Malhotra is the head of the Dept. of Nuclear Medicine & PET at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. He was honored with Homi Bhabha Memorial Oration Award in 2001 by Society Of Nuclear Medicine, India. He was awarded fellowship by the National Institute of Radiological Sciences, Chiba, Japan in 1998 for the study on Clinical Applications of Positron Emission Tomography in Oncology. He holds the position of President, Asia Oceania Federation of Nuclear Medicine & Biology Member, Nuclear Medicine Committee Atomic Energy Regulatory Board, Govt. of India, Advisor to Medical Council of India. Dr Dinesh Bhatia

Dr. Dinesh Bhatia is on the faculty of electrical engineering department at The University of Texas at Dallas. He directs research activities within the Embedded and Adaptive Computing group and is also a member of Center for Integrated Circuits and Systems at the University of Texas at Dallas. His research interests include all aspects of reconfigurable and adaptive computing, system level design, natural energy scavenging and, applications of wireless sensor networks. His recent work on wireless sensor networks operating on scavenged energy is gaining importance in health care applications involving tele-medicine and remote health monitoring He has extensive experience in building large scale embedded and reconfigurable systems. Some of these activities include principal designer and investigator for RACE and NEBULA systems for Wright Laboratories of USAF, principal investigator for DoD funded multiple programs in adaptive computing systems, and more. He has collaborated on SBIR programs to build product prototypes. He has published extensively in leading journals and conferences and continues to serve on program committees of several conferences. He is a senior member of IEEE, Computer Society, Circuits and Systems Society, Eta Kappa Nu, and recently served on the editorial board of IEEE Transactions on COMPUTERs.




Saroj Kanta Mishra

Prof. Saroj Kanta Mishra is the head of the Dept. of Endocrine Surgery at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow.

His areas of interest are study of patho-biology of thyroid cancer in Endemic region and Study of clinical-pathological Profile of Primary hyperparathyroidism in the background of Ca and Vit D deficiency and Impact of emerging Information & Communication Technology in healthcare, education and research.

He was Instrumental in starting Telemedicine Programme at SGPGI, Lucknow way back in 1999 and working as its Nodal Officer till date and involved in Telemedicine Research & Development Projects since 1999 like Kumbh mela Telemedicine Project, Tele-health care for Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims, Development of Telemedicine Technology and its application, Development of HRD and R&D infrastructure in Telemedicine and Medical Informatics field, Orissa, Uttaranchal, Raibareli Telemedicine Network, Distant Medical Education utilizing telemedicine technology are few of the important projects.

He is Country Representative in ITU (Telemedicine group), APT and Member of National Telemedicine Task Force, Ministry of Health, Government of India (2005-06) and WHO sponsored multinational research initiative on evaluation of electronic healthcare delivery in developing countries (2006…ongoing). He has written various books and published many research papers in the area of Telemedicine.




Horst Siebold

Horst Siebold, born 1950 in Germany, studied physics in Darmstadt, and finished with a Ph.D. in solid state physics in 1979. He joined the Siemens Corporate Research Lab in Erlangen where he headed the design of magnets (resistive, C-shape, superconducting), high performance gradient coils and RF coils for MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). He also contributed to concepts for SQUID-based biomagnetic measurement systems, and compact synchrotrons.

From 1994 to 1998 he served as head of the lab "Imaging Technologies" in the group department "Advanced Developments" in Siemens Medical Engineering. He supervised projects on MRI, CT, mamma diagnostic with light, detector physics, aSi-flat panel detectors, and image processing.

Horst Siebold has published in above fields, and holds more than 30 patents.

Since 1998 he has been appointed Head of Group Standardisation & Technology of Siemens Medical Solutions. He is responsible for coordination of strategic technology management and patent management, for technical cooperations in standardization bodies and industry associations.




Dhandapany Ragavan

Mr. Ragavan has been with the Medical Solutions Division since the past since the past 7 years. He began by heading the Business Administration part of Medical Solutions, and soon became the Marketing and Sales Head for the division. In December 2003, he took over as Executive Vice President of the Medical Solutions Division. He has been an active contributor to the turnaround of Medical Solutions in India.

Mr.Anjan Bose, Senior SSD Director & Business Head - India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Medical Systems, Philips Electronics India Ltd., started his career as a Service Engineer with Philips Medical 29 years back and has been in various important functions within Healthcare industry since then. An Electronics & Electrical Communications Engineer from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mr.Bose's work experience goes beyond India. He has worked in Europe as Regional Manager, in the Philips Headquarters in Holland and also led organisations like Hewlett-Packard Medical in South Asia and Emerging Markets in Asia. He is the immediate Past Chairman of Medical Equipment Division of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and currently is member of CII's National Committee of Healthcare, Services Council, Industry Council and National Committee of Economic Affairs.

Mr. Anjan Bose has played significant leadership roles in developing symbiotic commitment to partnership between Trade, Industry and Healthcare Deliverers. Mr. Bose is also an active Rotarian and a member of the European Business Group.





Nevenka Dimitrova

Nevenka Dimitrova is a Research Fellow in the department of Reliable Care Solutions at Philips Research India - Bangalore. She has been in Philips Research USA since 1995 and with Philips Research India since July 2006. At the same time she is a Visiting Scientist at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and at Columbia University. She obtained her PhD (1995) and MS (1991) in Computer Science from Arizona State University (USA), and BS (1984) in Mathematics and Computer Science from University of Kiril and Metodij, Skopje, Macedonia. Her current research activities are in bioinformatics and biomarker discovery and how to enable decision support systems for personalized medicine.

Nevenka has thirty three issued patents, and over hundred publications. She has given keynote presentations at CIVR, Medi@net, IEEE ITCC. Actively participates in IEEE, ACM and SPIE conferences, chaired and served on 30+ different program committees, currently serving on three editorial boards: ACM Multimedia Systems Journal, IEEE Multimedia and ACM Transactions on Information Systems. She was a Special Sessions Co-chair for ICME 2004 and General Chair of ACM Multimedia 2004 in New York.
